Whistler Le Gros Restuarant :: Local’s Review by Alan Lande

What’s as important as great skiing & snowboarding in Whistler… GREAT EATS!!

It’s rather simple to understand, with the very high operating costs & über competition in Whistler, you have to be very good to be a successful Restauranteur. Having said that, I still believe some Whistler restaurants outshine others, and I’m willing to share my 22 Years of Whistler locals experience with you.

Most of the Restaurants I’ve listed are Chef / Owners with only a few obvious exceptions. If in your travels you find one that I should know of, I’d love to hear from you. I will do my best to highlight one of my favorites every week…

Here’s Whistler’s Best Restaurants Guide

Whistler Restaurant Review for LE GROS

For the Visitor, this will seem like a ‘Hidden Treasure’ in the French /Swiss Alps, and yet it’s only a 5 min drive ($15-20 cab) from anywhere in Whistler Resort.

Fret not, the trip is ULTRA worthwhile for the value , food experience, portions, and most of all …. the Amazing Ambiance….. and you may be lucky & get kindly abused by Pascal (Le Gros – translated to The Fat Guy)…… the front dining room reeks with warmth & coziness.

Make sure to try his “frites” as these are the BEST French fries you’ ll find in Whistler & most likely anywhere!

Strongly recommended are the Rack of Lamb, Schnitzel, and daily specials.

Leave room for dessert…. Profiteroles – if you don’t know what they are, you surely will after trying them.

80-90% of the diners will be Whistler Locals as this humorous old Vet doesn’t play up to the Hotel Concierges.
